In 1974, radio broadcaster, oral historian and all-around FASCINATING person Studs Terkel collected interviews of folks from all walks of life in the American work-force. The results were an extraordinary tapestry of working, living and striving in America. So powerful was Terkel's work that just four years later composer Stephen Schwartz (WICKED, PIPPIN), folk legend James Taylor and several other composers set the lives and struggles of some of Terkel's interviewees to music. The result is this rock, folk and jazz-infused portrait of life in the American work-force entitled, WORKING. Thirty years after the original production, Terkel conducted additional interviews and composers (including Lin-Manuel Miranda (HAMILTON, IN THE HEIGHTS)) crafted additional material for a re-vamped production in 2012. We are thrilled to offer this updated musical tribute to the lives and longings of the American worker.

Current Production

Members of Shorewood Drama are very excited about the upcoming 2019-2020 season. Titles this season include the Shakespearean classic A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, the smart and rollicking satire URINETOWN, and the powerful dance musical BILLY ELLIOT! About Us

The drama department at Shorewood High School has had a tradition of putting on professional, quality shows since 1935. Shorewood Drama is regularly invited to prestigious drama festivals, such as the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh and the International Thespian Conference in Lincoln, Nebraska.  We were the first and only high school in Wisconsin to win two Outstanding Musical TOMMY AWARDS in one season!
